On this starstruck October night, the Critic Choice association is hosting its 5th annual celebration of Latino cinema and television here in the heart of Hollywood at the Egyptian theater. On October 24th, a gala and award ceremony will take place to honor the legacy of these Latino filmmakers and producers and recognize them as powerhouses of the industry.

This event will honor the heritage of artists behind the camera, while acknowledging the future of the entertainment industry. The CCA decided to honor many notable figures such as Dolores Huerta, Andy Garcia, America Ferrera, and Oscar Issac. These ceremonies serve to empower the beauty behind Latino culture and the art of our storytelling.

Cultural Powerhouses

This event aims to achieve its goal by highlighting Latino trailblazers who pave the industry for their modern counterparts. From Huerta’s activism with Ceaser Chavez to America Ferrera’s inspiring contribution to feminist community. This year's showcase is a reflection of the generational impact of Latinos to the community they call their own.

Critics Choice Association organizes this significant event to widen their effort to celebrate diversity in Hollywood.  This is accomplished through annual showcases which celebrate Black, Asian, and LGBTQ+ creators. The organization’s mission is to uplift underrecognized voices and highlight the talent that takes control in today’s entertainment culture.

Growing the Legacy

ith its fifth year ongoing, the gala has become a memorable event in Los Angeles’s film community. Established actors, producers, and rising filmmakers attend to celebrate Latino achievement in cinema and television.

Past honorees have included rising and established figures such as Guilermo del Toro, Pedro Pascal, Eva Longoria, and Jenna Ortega. This highlights the event’s mission to foster visibility for Latino creatives who continuously break barriers in the entertainment industry. One example of such a creative is Guillermo del Toro. He commenced his career with “Impossible Dreams” and is now making his 12th film coming out later this year. Voices like Guilermo is what continuous the growth of legacy growing within the Latino community.

What to Look For

This year’s event promises to continue that legacy with an evening of celebration and cultural pride. This is not just an event for film lovers. It is a display of the growing representation that continues to evolve on screen and off-screen alike. After this ceremony, keep an eye on the upcoming projects by Guilermo de Toro and Oscar Isaac in the new film Frankenstein on Netflix, and Camellia Perez for her breakthrough actress award for her performance on Acapulco on Apple TV.
